An Ohio man, identified as Jimmie Clarke, met a tragic end in a freak automobile accident in Bedford Township, Michigan. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported that around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 10, Clarke, aged 43, drove his vehicle off the road, with tragic consequences.
As per witness accounts and an ongoing investigation by local deputies, the gentleman from Shelby, Ohio was traveling north on Lewis Avenue. Witnesses described how his gray Volvo suddenly crossed the center line of the road and entered a shallow ditch near Donald Drive, according to FOX 2 Detroit. The car did not stop there; it made contact with multiple small trees before it flipped and came to a stop west of Lewis Avenue.
Despite wearing a seatbelt, Clarke suffered fatal injuries and was swiftly transported to a hospital in Toledo where he was pronounced dead. The authorities have been clear neither speed nor alcohol was at play in the incident. This detail was reiterated by the CBS Detroit coverage.
While it remains unknown why Clarke's Volvo departed from its charted path on Lewis Avenue, officials are seeking the public's assistance for any additional information. Tipsters with any relevant knowledge of the incident have been urged to reach out to the sheriff's office at 734-240-7548, as noted by WTOL. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-speakup or on their website.
