Fort Lauderdale has seen a duo apprehended in association with a series of burglaries in the Victoria Park neighborhood, with authorities stating the theft ring nabbed around $400,000 in valuables. According to NBC Miami, the accused, Rashad Corouthers, 33, and Bryanna Ingram, 31, are now to face multiple charges, including grand theft and burglary.
The investigation commenced last September after a burglary report described a home intrusion via a hurricane glass window. In the ensuing two months, detectives recorded at least seven similar incidents. As Local 10 News reports, surveillance footage captured a hooded figure systematically to search through a house, though not all the burglaries were caught on camera. Among the pilfered items were a safe, jewelry, and one victim's father’s ashes, a painful price beyond the material worth.
The break in the case came on Dec. 8, when police stopped a vehicle driven by Corouthers. Following the recovery of a stolen handgun from the car, taken from one of the break-ins, he was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. As reported by NBC Miami, Ingram was also reportedly found with two purses from another burglary.
It was after an extensive search of the car and the suspects' home that detectives found additional stolen property, which included a single pair of earrings identified as the most expensive of the stolen items. Both Corouthers and Ingram have been detained since Jan 3, while Ingram's charges notably include dealing in stolen property. Corouthers is facing three counts of both burglary and grand theft, authorities have confirmed.
