Valentine's Day at the historic Palm Beach County Courthouse was a rare sight with couples congregating to tie the knot in a mass wedding ceremony. Organized by Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts Joseph Abruzzo, the celebration united 15 couples, each marking their love in the presence of history and romance. As reported by WPTV, the free mass wedding ceremony was a gesture to bring together lovebirds who wished to solidify their unions, either as new spouses or to renew vows that have weathered the test of time.
Among the crowd were Catherine Webb and John Brown, a duo who, after 32 years together, decided to finally wed. "I just retired," Webb told WPTV. "And we have some more time with each other and he said let’s get married, so I said, OK." The sentiment of longevity in love was also echoed by Jack and Barbara Solomon, who initially joined hands in matrimony back in 1959. They chose to once again reaffirm their vows. "Always kiss before you go to sleep and listen to each other and respect each other, that’s the main thing,” the Solomon couple advised, as documented by BNN Breaking.
Each couple participating in the Valentine's Day event received tokens of remembrance for the occasion, including a professional photograph, rose, and boutonniere, as detailed in a report by BNN Breaking. Abruzzo, who presided over the group ceremony, expressed his delight, saying, "It's incredibly heartwarming to see so many couples celebrating their love on Valentine's Day."
The courthouse, typically a venue for the procedural aspects of law, transformed to a beacon of love and companionship. Couples at the event openly shared their moments of joy and mutual promises for a shared future. "So exciting to watch others couples go out in the world and embark on this journey,” Abruzzo mentioned to WPTV, witnessing firsthand the start of many matrimonial journeys on a day dedicated to celebrating the power of love and the union of hearts.
