
Tragedy struck in San Jose when a female passenger was killed in a car crash, marking the city's seventh traffic fatality of the year. The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) reported that the accident occurred on February 3, around 5:41 PM, involving a 2006 white BMW sedan that crashed after veering off the roadway and striking a light pole along with a tree at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Sierra Road.
The adult male driver of the BMW is believed to have quickly fled the scene post-collision, leaving behind the adult female passenger. The San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit, while piecing together the events that led to this fatal crash, is looking into the circumstances of the incident. The SJPD is investigating the case as Traffic Fatality #7 of 2024.
The unnamed woman suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office is in the process of confirming the victim’s identity and notifying her next of kin before releasing her name to the public.
Authorities are now calling for public assistance to gather more information about the fatal event quickly. Detective Leslie #4264, from the Traffic Investigations Unit, is urging anyone with relevant knowledge to come forward and has provided multiple avenues – email, phone, and the P3TIPS mobile app – for witnesses to share what they know.
