
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist Tuesday night near the entrance of Mesa Regal, a popular RV resort in Mesa, Arizona, officials reported. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Main Street, according to a report by AZFamily. The woman, whose identity has yet to be released, died at the scene of the accident.
Mesa Police Department officials were investigating the crash, which led to the temporary closure of the resort’s main entrance. Visitors to the Mesa Regal Resort were asked to use the backup entrance while police examined the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Nearby, just north of Main Street, 48th Street provided the alternate route for resort guests, as AZFamily reported.
Details leading up to why the driver hit the woman were not immediately clear. Police have not yet provided information on whether charges will be filed or the specifics that contributed to this fatal encounter. The driver's identity and condition have also not been released. The intersection was cordoned off as investigators worked to determine the details of the crash site.
According to a separate report by FOX10 Phoenix, the Mesa Regal is described as a gated resort catering to RV enthusiasts, a community now touched by tragedy. The investigation is ongoing, with officers piecing together the events that ended with the loss of life near University Drive and Higley Road.
