Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is rolling out the red carpet for pets once again with another session of their Care on the Go event, set to deliver a slew of free health services for Phoenix's four-legged citizens on March 2nd. Coming off the tails of a successful January event, where over 80 pets received royal treatment with gratis vaccines, chips, and licenses, MCACC is gearing up to do it all over again for dog owners and their furry friends.
"The return of Care on the Go was a huge success," pumped Kim Powell, Communications Supervisor for MCACC, in a statement obtained by the official county website. According to the same source, she stated, "We had a huge demand to host this event again, and this was reflected in the great turnout we had." Powell highlighted the speed at which appointments were snapped up last time, advising those who missed out to be quick on the draw for the upcoming March event.
Veterinary neglect is a sobering reality, with an estimated 30% of pet parents failing to carry their pets annually to a vet for preventative care. That's where MCACC, along with partners like the #LovePup Foundation and Petco Love, come in to bridge the gap, offering free provisions for pet health that include DA2PP vaccine doses provided through Petco Love's national 'Vaccinated and Loved' initiative, as per the county's announcement.
To get your dog in on this lifesaving gig, register online by February 28th, but, warned the organizers, services will only be dished out to those with pre-booked appointments—no chance for walk-ups. The event, which is a drive-thru-style service for canines, is set up at 2919 W Durango Street, marking a bold step in the fight against pet homelessness and disease in Phoenix.
