A Phoenix woman and her adult son were victims of a stabbing inside their apartment yesterday morning, ending in a tense standoff between the suspect and police. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the violent altercation took place near Dreamy Draw Drive and Morten Avenue.
Police responded to the scene after a distress call received at 5:15 a.m., discovering the injured family members. "When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman with stab wounds. The officers learned the suspect had stabbed his mother, and adult brother in the apartment. They were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," the police detailed in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Keyon Anderson, is the son and brother of the victims, respectively.
As per AZ Family's report, after the stabbing, Anderson barricaded himself inside the apartment, leading to a standoff with law enforcement that lasted more than three hours. The standoff concluded without further incident when Anderson surrendered to the authorities.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances leading to the stabbing, but the motive remains unclear. Family violence often hides deeper issues. Meanwhile, the mother and son are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. Keyon Anderson is in custody, awaiting justice for the incident.
