
A Portland community is reeling after a man was fatally shot in the Centennial neighborhood following a bar altercation. Montrell D. Goss, 37, has been identified as the deceased, and local authorities confirmed that his family has been notified and has released his photo to the public.
The investigation, which has involved units such as the East Precinct officers and PPB’s Focused Intervention Team, determined there was an initial argument between Goss and another man at the bar. Following the quarrel, Goss, stepped outside to his vehicle to collect a firearm, then returned to confront the individual, at which point shots were exchanged, and two guns were subsequently recovered at the scene, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The Medical Examiner has ruled Goss's death a homicide by gunshot wound, marking another instance of gun violence shaking the local community. While investigators have pieced together the tragic sequence of events leading to Goss's death, the case is far from closed.
As the case unfolds, it's reported that no charges have been filed, yet all evidence is set to be presented to a Grand Jury imminently. Officials from the PPB and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, agree about the lack of charges at this stage, officials are reportedly cooperating with authorities to unravel the series of events that led to this deadly encounter.
