In response, President Biden affirmed his awareness of the severe weather and the ongoing response operations.
"Look, first of all, I think you guys are undergoing one hell of an operation here and a catastrophic case of flash flooding is still, I guess, in the works," President Biden said. He underscored communication with Governor Gavin Newsom, indicating a strong partnership between state and federal agencies. Assurance was given that the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deanne Criswell, and the Region 9 Administrator, Bob Fenton, are actively engaged in the crisis.
Biden further detailed the provision of personnel and resources that FEMA has placed within the state's emergency operations centers, "We'll get any help on the way as soon as you guys request it. So just let me know, that's why I am calling," the President remarked, signifying a proactive stance toward the natural disaster. The Mayor of Los Angeles, grateful for the President's outreach, succinctly expressed her thanks. Mayor Bass: "Ok well thank you so much, Mr. President."
