Updates have emerged on the Preston Lord murder investigation as Queen Creek's mayor and police chief addressed the case during a council meeting on Feb. 21. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled Preston's death a homicide. Although no one has been arrested in connection with the young man's death, authorities have submitted charges against seven individuals to the county prosecutor.

In a recent development, a 17-year-old girl was nabbed by Gilbert Police for her alleged involvement in a separate violent incident that occurred in September 2023. The case includes aggravated robbery, assault, and disorderly conduct charges, and it will be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. This is yet another in a string of violent episodes involving teenagers that have shaken various communities in Arizona, including the one that led to Preston Lord's untimely demise in Queen Creek last October.

Town officials are pledging a dedicated effort to solve the tragic case. "We are still working hard on the investigation," they assured during the council meeting. The regional concern is on the rise, as teen violence has been a recurring theme in the East Valley, prompting the Queen Creek Police Department to be on high alert.

Meanwhile, the Gilbert Police Department has been proactive in dealing with such youth-related violence, resulting in significant action. "To date, Gilbert PD has made a total of 41 arrests related to group teen violence since February 2022," the department stated on Feb. 20. In the spirit of community vigilance, Gilbert PD urges the public to report any related information by calling their hotline at 480-503-6500, or through the online tip portal.
