The CHASCO Family YMCA in Round Rock, Texas, has rolled out plans for a refreshing new way to beat the heat. Officials gathered on Friday to break ground on a $5 million outdoor aquatics center destined to become a summer oasis for families in the community. The project features an array of water attractions including the Carl and Deanna Miller Family Pool, a decked-out area with a water slide, and a splash pad complete with fountains and a playground, according to CBS Austin.

While providing more than 3,000 kids in summer camps with a place to while away the sun-scorched days in comfort, the new facility aims to also bring alongside an outdoor pool of varying depths. There was a giant bucket described during the groundbreaking ceremony, a strategic set to drench unsuspecting children with a deluge of water, capturing the essence of playful aquatic adventure. Parents can look forward to lounging in cabanas while their little ones revel in the cool relief of the shallow water areas, as per KXAN.

Boasting multiple functions, the aquatics center stands to relieve the overcrowded indoor lap pool by providing kids with their very own space to splash and play. "We live in Texas, so we know what are summers are like. They’re brutal and we need kids to be able to have water spaces to go and play safely. So, that’s one of the main things that we want to be able to offer our community is another safe space for them to go," Laura Arredondo, the Chief Marketing Officer for Central Texas YMCA, as reported by KXAN.
