Round Rock is getting a brand-new playground for its youngsters. The City Council green-lit a plan to provide Settlement Park with fresh play equipment, a univocal nod to community development.
With a unanimous vote on Thursday, the park located at 1401 David Curry Dr. will see its construction kick off in late May, according to a statement on the city's official website. Families can look forward to a summer of enhanced outdoor fun, with the project spanning an expected two months, weather permitting.
The fresh gear, courtesy of Whirlix Design Inc., promises to be a hit. It includes a quirky, multi-tiered structure teeming with climbing opportunities and slides. There's also a curve swing that fits multiple kids and a complex play zone rigged with interactive games, slides, and activity stations, as noted on Round Rock's website.
Cost-wise, the city is shelling out $180,000 for the upgrade, a tab covered by the Community Development Block Grant Program focusing on the uplift of low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods. Inclusion of individual spinning seats, will, allow for even more dizzying action among the little ones.
For park aficionados keen on updates or info about other city-run green spaces, Round Rock's parks department invites one and all to visit their site and stay tuned into community happenings.
