A tanker truck overturned in Auburn, Massachusetts, on Saturday, unleashing a flood of 10,000 gallons of milk across an on-ramp leading to the Massachusetts Turnpike. The Auburn Fire Rescue Department reported the spill occurred around noon on the ramp from Route 12 west to Interstate 90 west, also known as the Mass Pike. In the ensuing mess, diesel fuel was also spilled onto the roadway, adding to the hazardous conditions.

As reported by WCVB, the driver of the tanker managed to escape unharmed and refused medical treatment at the scene. Traffic ground to a halt as a result of the accident, and Massachusetts Department of Transportation took to Twitter to urge motorists to seek alternative routes. The MassDOT warning, delivered via a tweet, emphasized the closure of the affected ramp due to the accident.

Crews worked diligently to contain and subsequently clean the significant spillage. Beyond the immediate traffic disruption, the implications of the spill were momentary, for the vital byway, a lifeline of commerce and daily commutes, was soon to be cleared. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation confirmed the ramp's closure as cleanup operations were underway.

By dusk, the truck had been uprighted and towed from the scene, a testament to the efficacy of those charged with responding to such crises. Meanwhile, the MassDOT post promised that the area would be navigable again once the spill was competently managed, ensuring drivers they could soon return to their familiar routes.
