An early Tuesday conflagration inflicted $60,000 worth of destruction on a West Side residence, the San Antonio fire department stated. Around 1:30 in the wee hours, a neighbor who noticed the dwelling alight, rang up 911 dispatching firefighters to the 800 block of Northwest 20th Street, in proximity to West Martin Street and Our Lady of the Lake University, KENS 5 reported.
Upon their rapid arrival, the firefighters encountered the front half of the residence consumed by flames. Before long, the fire was quelled and the scene was secured without incident, as per the San Antonio Fire Department's briefing of the event. The fire brigade's response ensured that the flames did not ravage beyond the immediate premises, through the family's possessions.
Officials have indicated that the residence was bereft of occupants when the flames took hold. A fire investigation team has been assigned the task of unraveling the circumstances that precipitated this blaze, according to KSAT. The earnest work of sifting through the debris to unearth the cause is ongoing.
No injuries were reported in the wake of the incident.
