In San Antonio, two women recently marked century milestones amid family celebrations and community honors. Alice Campbell, a centenarian who turned 100 on Valentine's Day, basked in well-wishes sent from across the community. As reported by KENS5, Campbell, mother to a lineage spanning 14 children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, received over 100 birthday cards. "I would like to thank everyone who took the time out to send my granny birthday cards," her grandchild, Porschee Bradley, told KENS5.

Meanwhile, World War II Navy W.A.V.E.S. veteran Jovita Enriquez Tellez is to also celebrate her 100th birthday on February 15, marking a life dedicated to service and family. Throughout her storied lifetime, Tellez not only served her country during a pivotal era but also raised a family and embarked on a career in civil service. According to a MSN article, she will receive a Living Legend Proclamation from the Military Women Memorial. "Serving as a W.A.V.E. in the Navy during WWII gives me a sense of pride in knowing I served my country, especially during wartime," Tellez reminisced.

After her efforts in the war, Tellez attended Durham Business College, later meeting and marrying Tony A. Tellez, a fellow veteran. They went on to to have four children and a growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With San Antonio as her lifelong home, Tellez exemplifies the strength and commitment of the "Greatest Generation", both in times of conflict and in peace.

The legacies of these two women, Campbell and Tellez, weave rich threads into the fabric of their community's history. Celebrations like these bridge the gap between past and present, showing younger generations the resilience necessary to survive and thrive through a century's worth of challenges.
