A routine traffic stop has led to the arrest of a man on drug charges after authorities discovered he was carrying fentanyl. According to FOX San Antonio, Live Oak Police Department officers pulled over Kino Jimenez for speeding on IH 35 N Access road earlier this month—clocking at 72 MPH in a designated 45 MPH zone.
Upon identifying Jimenez, the police learned he had an active warrant for Driving Under the Influence out of Bexar County. A search of his vehicle, sparked by probable cause, led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and 12.5 grams of fentanyl. Jimenez was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to distribute after being detained and transported to Bexar County Jail.
In a separate incident, Crisp County deputies in Georgia stopped a driver who appeared to be swerving on GA 401/I-75. The traffic stop unraveled into a deeper issue when the deputies learned the driver had pending warrants from Maryland and Minnesota.
As deputies went to open the trunk of the vehicle, they were hit with the smell of marijuana, initiating a search that uncovered four bags of a white powdery substance alongside pills and a packet of marijuana. They determined the substance to positively test for fentanyl, as detailed by Yahoo News. The driver's name and specific charges have yet to be publicly released at this time.
