A man has been hospitalized following a brazen attack on his own porch in San Antonio on Monday night, falling victim to gunfire that police believe was an act of retaliation.
The incident occurred late at night, around 10 p.m., in a quiet section of the southeast side of town, off Linda Lou Drive near South Hackberry Street, according to details from KENS 5. Police arrived at the scene to find the man with a gunshot wound to his foot, the suspects — described as three or four individuals — had already fled, according to police, they drove away in a dark-colored sedan.
San Antonio Police, as Fox San Antonio reports, indicated the man was outside his house when the assailants approached him and commenced shooting, hitting him once before leaving the scene.
The victim, who was conscious and able to speak with authorities, suggested the motivation behind the shooting was linked to a previous incident where he implicated a friend in some kind of trouble, this, as per his belief, sparked the retaliation that left him injured on his stoop. He has since been taken to BAMC in stable condition, while the search for the perpetrators, who remain at large, continues — no further descriptions have been provided by the authorities regarding the suspects.
As investigations into the shooting move forward, local residents are left grappling with the aftermath of violence that has encroached upon what many consider their safe havens — their own homes. San Antonio Police are asking anyone with information to come forward as they work to bring those responsible to justice.
