Early Sunday morning, the peaceful streets were abruptly disrupted when a pedestrian was struck in a hit-and-run incident on the east side of San Antonio. According to a report by KENS 5, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is now actively on the lookout for the suspect responsible for the accident which occurred at the intersection of Austin Street at 9th Street around 2:23 a.m.
The incident took place in view of patrol officers who were at the scene attending to an unrelated accident. Witnesses observed a red truck barrel through the intersection only to collide with an individual and continue on without pause, making no effort to stop and offer aid to the wounded pedestrian. Police attempted to swiftly pursue, but the truck vanished after the driver managed to make it onto the highway, leaving officers with only the night and the road to chase.
A bulletin put out by the authorities has pinpointed the vehicle as a red Ford truck. SAPD is urging anyone with information to come forward in an effort to catch the driver who, when apprehended, will face multiple charges for their actions that night. The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition, thankfully with no other injuries reported at the scene.
