In San Antonio, the call for puppy fosters has reached a critical pitch as local shelter, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA), finds itself inundated with new litters, including a plea for help with nurturing two mother dogs, and their pups, along with other orphaned puppies. These tail-waggers are in desperate need of temporary homes and TLC to steer clear of the brewing storm of viral illnesses back in the kennels, Fox San Antonio reported.
According to a statement obtained by Fox San Antonio, SAPA is currently housing hundreds of puppies, but the organization's resources are stretched thin with the sudden addition of three more litters. The risk of viral disease is high, and environments like SAPA's kennels can quickly become ground zero for outbreaks, making the need for foster homes even more pressing. As they scramble for assistance, they've highlighted the urgent cases of Nikita and her quintet and Ellie plus her six, not to mention lone pups Phoenix and Acacia, and a group whimsically dubbed the Spiderman puppies.
For those who step up to foster, SAPA promises to provide all the necessary gear—food, sleeping pads, formula, bottles, and a reliable source of heat to comfort the young canines. “All fosters are asked to provide is a temporary home and love for the pups,” KSAT quoted SAPA officials. This support network aims to shepherd these pups through their vulnerable early weeks and into robust, jovial health far from the shadow of illness.
The organization's plea is a reminder, especially in this moment of overflowing shelters, that the community can make a substantial difference in the lives of these animals. San Antonio locals interested in providing a nurturing haven for these dogs are encouraged to fill out an application on the SAPA foster page, or reach out directly by emailing, [email protected]. Opening one's home may just be the lifeline these pups need to leap towards a brighter, healthier future.
