The San Antonio Spurs and their shooting guard Devin Vassell are making a splash in the fashion world with a new collaboration. Vassell's brand, Unrecognized to Unforgettable, is joining forces with the Spurs to drop a ten-piece clothing collection, reported FOX San Antonio. Spurs fans can get their hands on the gear starting Thursday at the team's Fan Shop located at the Frost Bank Center, coinciding with the Spurs' matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Those looking to shop online will have their chance starting at 10 a.m. on March 1st at SpursFanShop.com.
Vassell's clothing line features San Antonio's skyline and his mantra "We Hoopin". Taking a page out from the city that welcomed him, the collection also includes a letterman-style leather jacket limited to only 124 pieces, nodding to his jersey number 24. As reported by KSAT, the 23-year-old athlete approached the Spurs with the idea, becoming an active participant throughout the designing process.
"This collection has been a year in the making, and I'm excited to showcase one of my passions beyond the court to give fans something different," Vassell said in a statement obtained by FOX San Antonio. “Each piece blends my personal fashion flow with the team and city that has embraced me and showed so much love since I became a professional. I can’t wait to see my Spurs family representing in style.” The collection includes diverse apparel such as shirts, a pair of shorts, sweatpants, hoodies, and crewnecks, appealing to a range of tastes among the Spurs' following.
Jordan Mandelkorn, associate vice president of Marketing & Creative Studio at Spurs Sports & Entertainment, expressed the organization's backing for Vassell's off-court pursuits, according to a statement provided by KSAT. "We're committed to encouraging player growth beyond basketball and jumped at the chance to support Devin in pursuing this personal passion of his," he said.
