An 18-year-old suspect has been taken into custody following the fatal shooting of a teenager near the Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio police confirmed. The suspect, identified as Octavious Tomrion Galloway, faces murder charges after the Sunday afternoon incident.
Police were alerted to a shooting in progress around 1:20 p.m. on the 3700 block of Binz Engleman Road, a stone's throw from BAMC. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 17-year-old Thaddeus Eugene Conway Jackson in the parking lot, with gunshot wounds to his neck and jaw that proved lethal. "She told police that her son was staying with the family friend and the friend's children, which includes Galloway," according to an arrest report obtained by KENS 5.
Initially misled about Galloway's whereabouts by other individuals, investigators later detained him after obtaining a witness video capturing the violent act, which showed the victim on the ground and the suspect being pulled away. Police later stopped a vehicle connected to the scene, locating Galloway inside around six hours after the crime.
Witnesses reported to police that before the shooting, Galloway, Jackson, and several others made a trip to a store and returned to the apartment complex where the incident unfolded. There, Galloway allegedly opened fire on Jackson, shooting him multiple times; no motive has been disclosed thus far. "Multiple 9 mm shells were found at the location," police said. He was arrested this morning after an arrest warrant was issued.
