A tipsy joyride turned into a trail of car wreckage in San Bruno last night, as a local man slammed into three parked vehicles before attempting to disappear on foot into a brewing storm. The San Bruno Police Department reported that the 44-year-old resident was arrested after he fled the crash scene, which occurred on Huntington Avenue near San Felipe Ave.
Officials detailed that the suspect made the ill-advised decision to steer his vehicle through the streets amidst an evening rain storm, an act that ended with banged-up cars and the driver in handcuffs. Witnesses were quick to alert authorities, dialing 911 with descriptions that swiftly led to the perpetrator's capture. "THANK YOU to all the witnesses that called 911 and provided information to our dispatchers, which included the driver's description as he fled the area on foot," the department stated in a social media post.
The suspect's decision to drive while intoxicated raises alarming concerns about road safety, especially under the treacherous conditions of wet roads.
