The sands of Santa Monica are set to honor a titan of architecture. Come March 3, the sea breeze will carry echoes of Julia Morgan's pioneering spirit at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Santa Monica and its conservancy are teaming up for the annual Julia Morgan Legacy Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., celebrating the mastermind behind the grandeur of Hearst Castle, according to the City of Santa Monica.

Boasting a portfolio of over 700 designs in a career that spanned nearly five decades, Morgan broke down barriers to truly become one of the early influencers of American architecture. The upcoming event aims to highlight her formidable union of engineering and aesthetics. "Julia Morgan: Engineering a Legacy," a talk by Julia Morgan authority Karen McNeill, Ph.D., promises to shed light on Morgan’s use of her civil engineering background to quickly innovate in her field. Attendees were given the chance to fully appreciate her work at the Marion Davies Guest House and Beach House pool, which exemplify the historic essence of the Annenberg Community Beach House.

While Morgan may have only received her due respect posthumously with the American Institute of Architects prestigious Gold Medal, her work has unmistakably withstood the test of time. Future generations can now easily find inspiration by visiting such legacies, as per the City of Santa Monica.
