San Antonio's latest search for the missing three-year-old Afghan refugee Lina Sardar Khil, who vanished over two years ago, has drawn to a close without turning up any new evidence. The dig, initiated by a tip from an unnamed source, unfolded in a desperate effort to locate Lina, who disappeared from her apartment complex on December 20, 2021, as ABC News reported.
The lead came just days before the young girl’s birthday, which would have been her sixth, setting off a series of events that saw police and federal agents scouring a greenbelt area near her last known whereabouts, according to a report by FOX San Antonio, it was learned that the informant is currently detained in Bexar County Jail for aggravated sexual assault of a child, this same man was featured on FOX San Antonio's Most Wanted Fugitive list in 2019 and had previously lived at the apartment complex where Lina went missing.
After nearly two years of silence, officers were hopeful, but the search was ultimately deemed inconclusive, with a statement declaring the tip as not credible. Officer Ricardo Guzman, speaking to ABC News reporter, said, "After nearly two years investigating the disappearance of Lina Khil, the San Antonio Police Department remains committed to following-up on and investigating every lead that we receive," asserting the devotion of law enforcement to pursue any and all available avenues in the quest to shed light on Lina's fate, and Guzman further mentioned the ongoing collaboration with the FBI during an interview with KENS, a local ABC affiliate.
The search, channeling the community's persistent yearning for answers, thus wrapped up last week as another chapter in the heartrending saga without yielding the resolution so many ache for, and the San Antonio Police Department, maintaining an unwavering dedication to the case, encourages anyone with information to step forth and contact their Special Victim's Unit at 210-207-2313.
