The streets of Southwest Atlanta became the epicenter of police activity when Atlanta Police Department’s A.P.E.X. unit engaged multiple suspects, resulting in a foot chase and the eventual arrest of one individual on Tuesday afternoon. A man wanted for aggravated assault, Jermaine Sutton, remains at large as the police investigation continues. According to an official report obtained from the Atlanta Police Department's website, APD officers were conducting surveillance on a site linked to Sutton on Osborne St SW when they encountered several men who fled on foot.
In the ensuing pursuit, Tyrelle Blake was seen forcing entry into a residence at 112 Birch St SW. The Atlanta police swiftly secured the scene, advising the homeowner of the intrusion and barring entry deemed unsafe until the suspect could be apprehended. APD SWAT was called to the scene, ultimately locating Blake hiding in the attic of the compromised dwelling. Blake, born in July 1998, was taken into custody without incident and charged with criminal trespass, obstruction, and providing a false name to police.
Further police action at the Osborne St SW location revealed multiple firearms and illegal narcotics, although Mr. Sutton, the initial target of the operation, was not found.
