A 17-year-old has been slapped with felony robbery charges after a 65-year-old man was attacked in Chicago earlier this month, police said. The young male offender, whose name has not been disclosed due to his age, allegedly assaulted the senior on February 13 in the 7500 block of N. Paulina.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim was forcibly relieved of his possessions by the accused and possibly accomplices. An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of the teenager, carried out on February 26, in the very same block of the earlier crime. Following his capture, the juvenile was hit with one felony count – Robbery/Victim Handicap or 60+ Years, as per a police statement.
The police gave no further details on the robbery or whether the juvenile had any previous run-ins with the law. The department has remained tight-lipped regarding the specifics of the theft and the condition of the elderly victim post-assault.
Upon identifying one of the offenders, the young man was placed into custody and now faces the legal system designed for adults.
