The Tewksbury Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect following a petty theft from a local public library's donation box. According to Chief Ryan Columbus, a man is alleged to have stolen approximately $50 from the Tewksbury Public Library on Friday, February 2nd.
Officials were notified of the incident around 4:30 p.m., when it was discovered that the donations, intended to help foster the library's community offerings, were missing. The suspect, described as a man dressed in a black jacket with a hood and gray sweatpants, is said to have slyly taken the donation box into the restroom to quickly pilfer the cash. He was then spotted heading south on Main Street on foot, making his escape seemingly unnoticed at the time.
In an appeal for public assistance, the Tewksbury Police Department has released this information through their website, urging anyone with knowledge of the crime to step forward. "The Tewksbury Police Department asks that anyone who may have information on this incident or can help to identify this individual to please contact the Department at 978-640-4385, call the anonymous tip line at 978-851-0175, or submit an anonymous tip here," as stated on their official website.
