A high-speed chase in Haralson County culminated in the arrest of two individuals after they attempted to evade police in a stolen utility vehicle. On the evening of February 19, local authorities pursued a Polaris Ranger lacking proper taillights, driven by 38-year-old Travis Richard Womack, with passenger Abby Michelle White, 26, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. The chase continued into the neighboring Paulding County where the suspects collided with a deputy's patrol car while trying to hastily make a turn onto Pleasant Grove Road.
The incident escalated when the driver, Womack, decided to abruptly jump out of the vehicle and proceed to run on foot. Haralson County Sgt. Trenton Benson gave chase, quickly apprehended the suspect, and placed him under arrest. Meanwhile, Deputy Jarrett Chandler detained White. When the theft was further investigated, it was revealed that the Polaris Ranger had been reported stolen in Paulding County, with Womack facing multiple charges and White detained on outstanding felony warrants, according to details from WSB-TV.
Authorities have now charged Travis Richard Womack with several offenses, including fleeing and attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, removal or alteration of identification, and obstruction. His companion, Abby Michelle White, whom law enforcement discovered had multiple active warrants, is also charged with one count of theft by receiving stolen property.
The case now moves forward to the legal system.
