
Two teenage boys are facing serious charges after being arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old male and left two other teenagers injured. According to the Chicago Police Department, a 14-year-old male has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts each of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. The second suspect, a 17-year-old male, faces one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The suspects were taken into custody on February 20, 2024.
The deadly incident unfolded on January 31, in the 1200 block of W. Thorndale, where assailants reportedly opened fire, striking the three victims, the shooting not only took the life of a 16-year-old but also wrought havoc on the lives of a 15-year-old and another 16-year-old, both of whom sustained injuries from gunfire. The two offenders were arrested a day before their detention hearing set for February 21, 2024; the younger suspect was apprehended in the 900 block of W. Wilson, and the older in the 4600 block of N. Sheridan.
