
Tragedy struck on a north-side San Antonio neighborhood when gunfire erupted, resulting in two young men being shot while in their car Monday night. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the victims, believed to be in their late teens or early twenties, were leaving a convenience store and heading to a friend's residence when they were ambushed by an unknown gunman.
The driver, hit in the head and back, managed along with a backseat passenger—who was struck twice in the side—to find refuge at a Valero gas station at Hildebrand and Blanco, SAPD reported. It was here, after their desperate escape, they stopped to desperately call for help. According to KSAT, the third individual in the vehicle was unharmed during the incident.
Upon arrival, authorities attended to the wounded men before they were rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Their injuries, though severe, were reported as non-life threatening by authorities, as per a statement obtained by KENS5. As of now, the condition of the two men remains unclear, and the police have yet to provide a description of the assailant or disclose a possible motive for the shooting.
In the wake of the violence, local law enforcement has not yet to successfully identify a suspect in the case. A firearm was discovered a block from the gas station, and investigators are working to determine its connection to the shooting. In addition to the search for the gunman, police are also looking for information on a vehicle potentially associated with the attack.
