
Gunfire erupted in East Harris County yesterday evening when an officer-involved shooting took place at the 14600 block of Lourdes. The Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that a suspect, a male fugitive wanted on multiple counts of sexual assault on a child, was shot by members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. The incident occurred while law enforcement attempted to apprehend the individual. Details shared via X by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reveal that no officers were injured in the confrontation.

The Harris County Sheriff also mentioned that preliminarily, both task force members from the Marshals and Harris County Sheriff's Office discharged their weapons as the man, believed to be the wanted fugitive, drew a pistol. Following this, officers fired upon the suspect, who was then shot and subsequently incapacitated. As of now, the identity of the suspect has not been released to the public.
According to the information provided by the law enforcement, the series of events unfolded rapidly. Members of the task force were conducting operations to arrest the suspect when he allegedly displayed a weapon. In response, officers on the scene, following protocol pertaining to the threat, engaged with lethal force.
