The grief-stricken father of a young victim from last year's Robb Elementary School massacre landed behind bars Monday, facing an unclear plight unfolding at the steps of the Uvalde County Justice Center. Brett Cross, who has mourned the death of his son Uziyah "Uzi" Garcia since the tragic May 2022 shooting, was apprehended by authorities at 10:43 a.m., the circumstances of the arrest yet to be unwrapped.
Cross's son was one of the 19 innocent children, butchered alongside two adults in a violent spree that stained the walls of Uvalde's Robb Elementary School. The local police, meanwhile, released a concise statement following the arrest, which according to KENS 5, said, "The Uvalde Police Department is committed to upholding the law and ensuring public safety in our community. As an assisting agency, our role in this incident was limited to providing support in the transport process. We are cooperating fully with relevant authorities to gather all pertinent information related to this case."
Details regarding what instigated Cross's arrest remain scant, as officials and local law enforcement cloak the incident in an opaque layer of procedural formality.
