An intense showdown in Allen ended with a woman behind bars after a SWAT team was called to a residential neighborhood Monday morning. 36-year-old Lul Top, who was wanted on six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, barricaded herself in an attic on Tanglewood Drive, triggering a standoff with police, according to FOX 4 News.
Authorities arrived on the scene around 8:53 a.m. to serve the warrants, only to be met by a fortified Lul Top, securing herself inside the attic as police stormed the home. Following failed negotiations, police deployed chemical agents in a bid to coax her out, with Top finally waving the white flag shortly before 11 a.m., per reports by NBC DFW.
The lengthy standoff caused significant police presence in the usually quiet neighborhood, as the SWAT team took strategic positions around the residence. The stalemate, lasting approximately two hours, came to an end when chemical agents were introduced into the attic where Top had sequestered herself.
After rendering the chemicals, a report by FOX 4 News indicated that "Top surrendered to police just before 11 a.m." She was then taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Collin County Jail. Top's bail is set at a steep $600,000, reflecting the serious nature of the charges she faces.
