A Dunkin' employee was viciously attacked inside a Watertown store early Friday, resulting in his hospitalization, NBC10 Boston reported. The Watertown Police Department stated the fracas occurred around the break of dawn at the Dunkin' located at 48 Mount Auburn Street.
Vartan Krikorian, 65, allegedly launched into an argument and proceeded to quickly escalate the situation, assaulting the unnamed employee. Co-workers of the victim mentioned to NBC10 Boston that Krikorian forcefully entered the store through a side door left ajar, before heading behind the counter to launch his attack. This Dunkin' worker, a familiar face known for about eight years among patrons, and beloved for his presence, found himself at the receiving end of an unprovoked aggression that morning.
Following the incident, police swiftly took Krikorian into custody, as he faces charges that include assault and battery along with disorderly conduct, as per the police statement. It was unclear what prompted Krikorian to exact the assault on the Dunkin' staffer, and there is no immediate indication of a court date for the suspect.
The victim, thankfully, did not sustain serious injuries in the assault. He was taken to a local hospital as a mere precaution, Boston 25 News reported. As of Saturday, per the accounts from colleagues, the employee was back home. Meanwhile, the Dunkin’ community and the Watertown locals are left to reckon with the harrowing event that shattered the composure of an early Friday morning trade.
