WSU President Kimberly Andrews Epsy stated that the investigatory probe "did not involve allegations of sexual misconduct, misuse of funds or substance abuse, and was ceased without findings." During his brief tenure, Kornbluh, who earned an annual salary of $446,505, saw the university leap forward in national rankings and introduced initiatives such as a $6 million award from the Mellon Foundation used to establish the Detroit Center for Black Studies, according to a campus community email highlighted by both The South End and BNN Breaking.
Laurie Lauzon Clabo, Dean of the College of Nursing, has taken the reins as the acting provost, during which she has garnered acclaim for her ability to steer the university through these uncertain times. Clabo's leadership is set to continue until a national search discovers a permanent successor for the provost position, a move reiterated by Mark Gaffney, past chair of the WSU Board of Governors, who mentioned, "It was the best thing for everybody," in a statement obtained by Detroit News.
