Early risers in west Phoenix were startled as a mobile home fire sent one person to the hospital with burns, on Wednesday morning. According to KTAR, the blaze broke out near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 4:00 a.m., where firefighters encountered a single mobile home engulfed in flames. The fire also threatened to spread to an adjacent vehicle and other homes in the vicinity.
Despite the early hour, fire crews from both Phoenix and Tolleson quickly converged on the scene to battle the inferno. "Crews extinguished the main body of the fire, obtained all clears on the threatened occupancies, and prevented any extension to the nearby units," said Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Shaun DuBois, in a statement. The intensity of the flames resulted in one individual sustaining minor burns, and they were promptly taken to a nearby hospital, according to a report by AZFamily.
The incident left two residents without a home, as their dwelling was significantly damaged by the fire. On-site to offer support, the Community Assistance Program stepped in to aid those displaced by the disaster.
An investigation to determine what sparked the fire is currently underway. Meanwhile, relief efforts continue as the impacted individuals attempt to recover from the sudden disruption to their lives. Authorities have yet to release further details on the condition of the hospitalized victim, or the prospective cause of the fire.
