
A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a southeast Georgia motel on Valentine's Day, law enforcement officials said. The suspect, identified as Celeste Denise Adams of Waynesboro, surrendered to authorities over the weekend, facing multiple charges including murder and aggravated assault.
The violent incident took place at the Relax Inn on US Highway 301 in Claxton, around 7 a.m. on February 14, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. When officers arrived, they found four individuals with gunshot wounds. Two, of the victims, identified as 27-year-old Shalonde A’Jessica Stevens and 26-year-old Taylor Samone Clark, both from Statesboro, did not survive.
Adams is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The Evans County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Adams turned herself in on Saturday. Autopsies for the deceased are slated to be conducted at the GBI Crime Lab.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities urge those with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted to the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Statesboro, the Evans County Sheriff’s Office or, the Claxton Police Department. Anonymous tips are also accepted through a hotline and online portal, as per details provided by WSBTV.
