The cherished indoor playground at Lookout Ridge is set for a facelift, announced as part of the ambitious Central Park Renovation Project kicking off this year. The remodel, which aims to conclude by the summer of 2025, promises a whole new world of fun with 60 to 80 cutting-edge play features that are sure to dazzle kids up to the age of 12.
But first, the community has to say its goodbyes. The current playground will remain up and running for visitors until its doors close for the last time on Thursday, Feb. 29. After that, it's hammers and nails, as the area will shut down starting March 1, clearing the stage for the construction crews to move in.
City officials are tugging at heartstrings, inviting locals to two farewell events to mark the end of an era for the original playground. According to an announcement on Woodbury's official website, these send-offs are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 29, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Best part? It's all free.
As part of the festivities, fruit snacks will be on hand, and kids can pen their "goodbye" notes to the beloved playground. Families will also have the chance to capture their final moments at Lookout Ridge with a snazzy photo op. But don't dawdle—entry might hit a snag if the crowd surges past the playground's 200-person occupancy limit.
