A 13-year-old boy was viciously gunned down Wednesday in a midday shooting on Chicago's South Side, according to police. The young victim was targeted while standing outside on the 700 block of East 91st Place in the Burnside neighborhood, CBS Chicago reported.
Witnesses reported a white vehicle circling the block before a passenger commenced to openly fire in the direction of the boy. Chicago police relayed that after the initial shooting, the vehicle made another pass, with the offender again firing at the teen. In what appears to be an utterly senseless act of violence, the boy was later found with multiple gunshot wounds—a harrowing testament to the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence.
The boy was discovered a few blocks away in the 9100 block of South Dauphin Avenue. He had sustained two gunshot wounds to the back and a further wound to his upper chest. According to ABC 7 Chicago, first responders rushed the critically injured child to Comer Children's Hospital. As of the latest reports, no one has been taken into custody, and Area Two detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
