In Gwinnett County, a bold theft at a Korean eatery, and in Cobb County, a high school stabbing that left one teenager in critical condition have rocked their respective communities.
Gwinnett County police are on the hunt for a mustachioed man who cleaned out $15,000 from Hwangso Gozip, a restaurant shuttered for renovations on Merchants Way. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the burglary occurred in the nocturnal stillness between midnight and 1 a.m. on March 12. The suspect, decked in a black or gray jacket, black skull cap, black pants, and tan boots, made his move through a broken window before fleeing with the cash. "You can see the suspect try different doors alongside the business," Cpl. Juan Madiedo relayed in a public briefing.
While Gwinnett authorities focus on tracking down the burglar, Cobb County reels from a violent encounter at Sprayberry High School where Earl Nichols, 18, sustained multiple stab wounds. Nichols remains in critical condition after a fight in the school bathroom escalated dramatically. The suspect, 17-year-old Aedan Smith, is charged with aggravated assault and carrying a weapon within a school safety zone, as reported by WSB-TV. Denied bond and charged as an adult, Smith could face a grim future over a moment's ire. "That kid ruined his entire life," a student, Napoleon Hernandez, mused to Channel 2. The school has since amped up security with additional police presence.
