A teen has been handcuffed for a fatal shooting in the Northeast quadrant of D.C., officials said.

Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch detectives have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the murder that occurred on January 22, in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE. Officers rushed to the scene around 3:28 p.m. following reports of gunfire and, on arrival, found two victims, according to the MPD statement. One suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, the other, found inside a vehicle, did not survive.

The deceased was identified as Tyreek Moore, 18, a local of the Northeast neighborhood. Efforts to revive him were futile, and he was declared dead, while the surviving victim was transported for medical treatment to a nearby hospital.

Judging the fragility of life with the finality of steel, MPD's investigation led to the arrest of Tyree Bratcher, of Southeast D.C., on March 26. Charged as an adult, Bratcher faces Second Degree Murder while Armed, connected to Moore's death. The arrest was effected by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, the Metropolitan Police Department noted.
