A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the cold-blooded killing of another man near his workplace on the Northeast Side of San Antonio. Kia Dotson was apprehended on Saturday, as reported by FOX San Antonio, in connection with the execution-style shooting that took the life of Cesar Garcia, 27, last week.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on February 29, on a the 6900 block of Northeast Loop 410. San Antonio Police arrived swiftly after reports of gunfire to find the lifeless body of Garcia by the entrance to his workplace. A critical piece of evidence at the scene was plastic baggies containing Glock switches and shell casings scattered nearby, as per information obtained by FOX San Antonio.
Surveillance footage reviewed by authorities and subsequently released detailed moments leading to up the crime. Garcia could be seen leaving through the front entrance of his workplace, shortly before encountering two men described as suspects. "The victim had arranged to meet with the suspects," KSAT reported. As Garcia approached a stairwell, Dotson, along with his accomplice, initiated a struggle with him, followed by a series of gunshots.
Neither robbery nor theft appear to have been the suspects' motives as Garcia was not relieved of any possessions during the altercation. The getaway car described by police was a black Hyundai Sonata missing a front bumper. Anyone with information regarding the remaining suspect or the vehicle is urged to contact the SAPD Homicide Unit, advised KSAT.
