A 22-year-old man was killed in a pre-dawn crash on Saturday when he attempted to cross State Highway 6 South in Houston and was struck by a vehicle. The young man's identity has yet to be released, pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to a report from the Houston Police Department.

The accident occurred approximately at 2:40 a.m., and authorities say the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a silver Toyota Highlander. The driver, also 22, stayed on the scene and cooperated with the officers. He reportedly did not exhibit signs of intoxication, as per a statement obtained by City of Houston News. After questioning, the driver was released with no immediate charges filed.

"HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer F. Flynn reported: The male, a pedestrian, was crossing the street at the above address – not in the crosswalk – when he was struck by the silver Toyota Highlander traveling northbound. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene," the City of Houston News detailed in their release of the incident.
