A blaze at a Houston restaurant Saturday morning left three firefighters with minor injuries after part of the building gave way.The incident occurred near the intersection of Canal Street and Navigation Boulevard, as reported by ABC13.
HFD was called to the scene early in the morning to combat a fire that had engulfed a local restaurant. While the flames were doused swiftly, the unexpected collapse of the restaurant's roof resulted in injuries for a trio of firefighters, who were then taken to nearby hospitals. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the HFD described the collapse as "minor."
A social media update provided by Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña later confirmed all three firefighters were in stable condition, with two having been released from the hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and it's unclear if there were other injuries.
Local traffic was affected due to the emergency response, with the Houston Fire Department's X account urging residents to avoid the area in the wake of the incident.
