An Alamo Heights man is facing a capital murder charge for allegedly killing his 11-month-old daughter in a domestic violence incident. Stephen Clare, 50, is set to stand trial on Oct. 11, as confirmed on Monday. Clare is also facing three aggravated assault charges related to the April 11, 2023, attack on his ex-wife and two young daughters. Fox San Antonio reported.

The prosecution declared on Feb. 15 their intent to seek the death penalty. Chilling details emerged from the police investigations, noting Clare had a dispute with his ex-wife over a gun she owned. Escaping unharmed, two older boys, ages 8 and 11, witnessed the tragic event.

According to the arrest warrant cited by Fox San Antonio, Clare was captured on home surveillance footage brandishing the firearm and menacingly chasing his ex-wife before shooting her and stabbing their infant daughters. The violent outburst resulted in the death of his 11-month-old girl.

Clare remains in custody, pending trial.
