An urgent AMBER Alert has been issued in El Paso for Kenji Montoya, a 2-year-old boy reportedly taken by his father, according to El Paso authorities. The boy, last seen on March 13 at about 8:45 p.m. on the 11200 block of Kingfish Court, was wearing a Spiderman long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans when he disappeared. Described as white, 2 feet 5 inches tall, with brown hair and eyes, the police are asking for the public's help in locating him, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
The suspect, Miguel Montoya, is a 30-year-old male, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall with brown hair and eyes, weighs 130 pounds and is the child's father. He was last seen wearing a black Dragon Z baseball cap, blue jacket, and blue shirt. El Paso Police Department disclosed in a news release that Miguel Montoya, wanted on a felony domestic violence warrant, brandished an undisclosed type of weapon during the incident before fleeing with his son. The vehicle associated with the abduction is a gray 2020 Dodge Journey, with Texas license plate number TKR0213, according to El Paso Times.
Police officials stated, "This situation is urgent and poses a serious risk to the safety and well-being of Kenji Montoya." The father and son were seen leaving the 7200 block of North Loop Drive, close to the El Paso Community College Valle Verde campus. Given the father's alleged violence and the alert for the toddler, law enforcement is in a race against the clock to ensure the child's safety.
El Paso Police are urging anyone with any information, however seemingly insignificant, to come forward to aid in safely recovering Kenji. The community has been asked to be vigilant and report any sightings of the gray Dodge Journey, or any information that could lead to the child's whereabouts. "Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kenji or Miguel Montoya may call 911, the Crimes Against Persons Unit at 915-212-4040, or may anonymously call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS)," relayed the police department. The safety of young Kenji hinges upon the swift actions of citizens and the persistent efforts of the authorities.
