To promote the importance of highway safety, Arizona drivers are getting a nudge from state and federal agencies to stay on top of vehicle recalls. During Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, from March 4 to March 10, the Arizona Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are hammering home the message "Safe Cars Save Lives," according to ADOT.
State officials know the risk of ignoring recall notices. Updates to vehicles are often sidelined by owners, leading to potential safety hazards. To combat the issue, the agencies are touting straightforward, no-cost resources for drivers to check their vehicles for any outstanding recalls. Utilizing these tools, which only take a few minutes, ensures that you keep yourself and others out of harm's way.
One such tool is the AZMVDNOW.gov portal, which allows registered Arizona motorists to easily access information about their vehicles. When logged into their account, users can click on their vehicles to reveal important data, such as title and recall specifics, under a dedicated tab, as per ADOT.
Aside from the state's MVD, the NHTSA offers a broader tool, the VIN Look-Up Tool at NHTSA.gov/recalls. It provides a national scope, allowing vehicle owners to punch in their Vehicle Identification Number and check for any safety recalls that may affect their car, tires, or even car seats. But despite the efforts and frequent alerts from manufacturers, millions of vehicles remain unrepaired annually, placing innocent lives on the line.
For those who feel their vehicle may have an issue not yet identified by a recall, the NHTSA has opened channels for directly submitting safety-related concerns. They can be contacted online via their website or through a toll-free hotline at 888-327-4236, where sometimes a single complaint can lead to a safety recall, as reported by ADOT.
