The event, as advertised by the Arlington Police Department, invited locals to the AISD Dan Dipert Career Technical Center for complimentary upgrades to bolster vehicle security.
Owners of Kias and Hyundais that sport the traditional turn-to-start ignition systems had the opportunity to directly receive the updates, designed to securely shield their vehicles from theft. "Come on down!!" spurred the social media post by the Arlington Police Department, encouraging owners to take advantage of the event, which ran until 4 pm Saturday. No prior arrangement was necessary to participate.
Apart from the anti-theft updates, the community event was structured around a visibly communal ethos, offering free hot dogs and several activities alongside the technical service.
