The Garden Ridge Police Department, noting the extent of the disruption caused by the accident, alerted the community through their Facebook page, urging drivers to avoid the area if possible while the snarled traffic on I-35 as well as the surrounding local roads remains heavily congested, the social media post was also cited by KSAT. During the same period, ongoing construction between Walzem Road and Weidner Road on I-35 is also contributing to the traffic difficulties with lane closures in both the north and southbound directions until late afternoon.
