A Fulton County judge has denied bond to Diante Reynolds, a suspect in the 2022 disappearance and presumed murder of Allahnia Lenoir. The 24-year-old woman's last known whereabouts were traced back to a Midtown Atlanta apartment complex, after which she was never seen again. Reynolds, who has been in custody since September 2022 without bond, requested reconsideration. However, the judge upheld her previous ruling, deeming him a threat and a flight risk, according to information released by 11Alive.
During the court session, Reynolds' defense attorney Jay Abt argued that the case was weak due to a lack of direct evidence connecting his client to Lenoir's death. Quoted by FOX 5 Atlanta, Abt claimed, "This is one of the weakest cases I've seen in my 29 years in the practice of law." A dispute raised by Abt over Reynolds needing medical attention for a severe shoulder injury sustained during a beating in jail did not sway the court's decision.
The ongoing case has generated significant attention, particularly because Steven Oboite, the second suspect originally charged alongside Reynolds, remains at large and is listed among Atlanta's most wanted. Nicholas Hendrickson, a third suspect, has been indicted for his role in helping dispose of Lenoir's body and remains in custody, with multiple bond requests denied as well.
Her family, still grappling with the loss, continues to search for answers and justice. Jannette Jackson, Lenoir's heartbroken mother, shared her relentless despair with 11Alive, stating, "It's been 543 days since I last saw our daughter or spoke to her. That fact is an increasingly daily challenge." The family has offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to Oboite's arrest, firmly believing that taking these suspects off the streets is imperative for community safety.
